This particular Saturday—November 15th—was different from others; many Christians had been looking forward to the March for Jesus Petatlán 2008.
Many preparations were done months prior to the march, but the last minute details were formidable, early in the morning we were loading the pieces of the stage,, the welder was also finishing up on some details to make the stage fully functional. The one in charge of the sound equipment arrived at 9 am, and various churches brought in plastic chairs for the seating at the rally following the march.

At 4 pm the walk part of the March was to begin by the main sports center about a kilometer and a half from the town plaza. Different Christians were there waiting; 3 vehicles with portable sound systems had recorded music to play as they marched along, banners stating “March for Jesus 2008” and “Jesus is the Solution.”
We marched down one of the main avenues giving testimony to who we are, Christians united with one purpose of glorifying Jesus Christ.

Certainly it wasn't without difficulties – such as temporarily losing the electricity in the plaza just prior to our arrival there. We went around the plaza and got ready to begin the meeting.
This meeting began with a song, an introduction, then singing the national anthem. It was great to see hundreds of Christians in the center of the city. One church presented a drama, following by a special song written by a member of Agua Viva encouraging us to pray for Petatlán.

Then there was a testimony of God's power to deliver a man from the vice of alcohol, followed by a message by Luis Cortés from Acapulco directing people to Jesus the Savior. We prayed for the region and nation, the city, and the government officials; asking God to bless them and bring peace to our city. There were some unbelievers who received the Lord as their Savior, prayer being offered up for some special needs as well.

Although the attendance was less this year, we estimate around 500, we take into account the extreme violence that has occurred in Petatlan within the past year and we understand the hesitancy of the people from surrounding towns to march through the streets.

As the evening wore on people began to leave earlier than normal also related to fear. However, many gave positive reports as to this special time—declaring who we are as Christians, and also interceding together for the wellbeing of Mexico. So, on another occasion we will be together again, seeking to advance the Kingdom of God.
